January 2017

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Happy New Year IFSA Members! 2016 was a very successful year for IFSA. Not only did we have a successful Expo in Chicago with a record-breaking 900 attendees, we saw tremendous growth in membership, a significant increase in scholarships (IFSA Foundation) and excellent advocacy work by our Government Affairs and Education Committee. We have some exciting announcements that will help IFSA expand benefits to members globally and embrace all that 2017 has in store.

As many of you know, APEX (Airline Passenger Experience) is an important ‘sister association’ for IFSA. Both organizations focus on in-flight services and share the desire to evolve value propositions and expand membership. We believe that by furthering our relationship with APEX, IFSA can increase its global footprint, build additional strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations and expand our reach bringing greater value to all of us as members.

With this in mind, I want to announce that starting this month APEX CEO, Joe Leader, will also be supporting IFSA as CEO . The IFSA Board is excited to bring Mr. Leader on board and believe that he will be an important member of our team. We are confident that he will assist IFSA in broadening its portfolio, increasing airline engagement, building partnerships and assisting the Board with strategic initiatives. Sharing a CEO with APEX, our long-standing partner, will benefit both groups by enhancing each association’s reach and influence at minimum cost to our members. As IFSA CEO, Mr. Leader will be tasked with expanding our membership worldwide, grow airline participation at EXPO and representing IFSA interests at related industry conferences such as FTE, AIX and Skift. Joe’s contributions will provide an important boost toward greater global recognition of IFSA as the voice of the onboard hospitality industry.

How will this impact us as members of IFSA? We’ll have a much greater pool of contacts, customers, friends and colleagues as a result of a growing our international IFSA network and community. Our size and international presence will enhance our ability to advocate on issues impacting our businesses. And the boost in resources will put IFSA in a better position to be more strategic by enhancing our services to members.

As we go forward, IFSA will maintain all of its services, staff and autonomy. Please continue to contact your staff as needed for any questions involving membership, committees, Foundation, Expo and sponsorships. You can find of list of IFSA staff members and their contact information on our website, ifsanet.com as well as an FAQ on this matter. Should you have additional questions or comments, please reach out to Emily Connor, IFSA Executive Director, econnor@kellencompany.com.

I hope you all had a relaxing, safe and wonderful holiday. I look forward to another successful year for IFSA as President.

And, please mark your calendars for our next Expo with APEX in Long Beach on September 25-27!

Best,

Jane Bernier-Tran
