ASSOCIATION NEWS

Greetings from IFSA President

Dear IFSA members,

On behalf of the IFSA Board of Directors, I would like to wish you a Happy New Year! I also am excited to share information about some upcoming strategic initiatives for the association.

This year, IFSA will continue to maximize our industry participation and presence worldwide by strengthening relationships with other associations and media. Our partnership with the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) is a great example of industry collaboration. For the past five years, IFSA and APEX have teamed up to present educational events around the world, most recently, this past November in Asia. The board will continue to evaluate potential partners and global educational opportunities that provide added value to IFSA members.

I encourage you to explore the many ways you can become involved in the Association. You may wish to participate on a working committee, sponsor or exhibit during our annual tradeshow, or simply advertise your products and services to the IFSA membership via the website or in OnBoard IFSA, our monthly e-newsletter to members. IFSA committees are extremely important to the growth and development of our organization, and I wish to thank all the committee members from numerous companies for your valuable contributions.

Recent committee changes of note include:

Planning Committee Chair Jay Cravens of Delta Air Lines welcomes Lisa Luchau from Alaska Airlines and gategroup’s Chef Bob Rosar to the committee

Government Affairs Committee Board Liaison Jane Bernier Tran from United Airlines welcomes Cesar Forno of LSG as new Board Liaison. Cesar will work closely with co-chairs Barbara Boyer of Air Fayre, MaryAnn Dowd of United and the full committee not only on revisions to the World Food Safety Guidelines, but also to liaise with government agencies regarding IFSA’s position on upcoming legislation affecting our industry

Booth selection for the 2014 annual exhibition will begin soon. If your company has not received correspondence on this upcoming activity, please contact Kristi Johnson at kjohnson@kellencompany.com.

Look for additional updates on the upcoming events and strategic initiatives in OnBoard IFSA, on the IFSA website and IFSA’s social media channels. Thank you for your continued support of IFSA.

Thank you for your continued support of IFSA.

Sincerely,

Pam Suder-Smith

Volunteers needed for World Food Safety Guidelines Task Force

The World Food Safety Guidelines is a basic food safety reference document that is applicable to airline catering establishments worldwide. IFSA’s Government Affairs and Education Committee (GAEC) maintains the guidelines and will form a team in 2014 to update the guidelines. A basic quality/food safety background and knowledge of airline catering operations would be highly beneficial to the team.  If you’re looking for an opportunity to get more involved in your association and have knowledge in this area, IFSA’s GAEC would greatly appreciate your help. If interested, please send your contact details to IFSA Headquarters.
