Open Call for Mentors: New Mentorship Program
The IFSA Mentorship Program is a new initiative, designed to bring experienced members of the inflight services industry together with junior members who are interested in further career development.
It's not too late to become a mentor!
The four month program is a wonderful opportunity for senior members of the industry to give back and develop the industry. In turn, it is a great opportunity for junior members to gain valuable career guidance and a framework for career planning through a one-on-one partnership with a seasoned professional.
Through a selection process utilizing applications, IFSA will match qualified mentors with deserving mentees who are looking for development in an area that matches the experience of the mentor. IFSA is currently looking for mentors with 15+ years of experience in a leadership position and are IFSA members.

GAEC to Meet in Paris in October to review the World Food Safety Guidelines
The Government Affairs and Education Committee will be meeting in Paris 6-9 October, to make the final revisions and updates to the WFSG. Airlines, caterers and suppliers from across the world will be gathering to give input. The meeting will be run by Suzanne Fisher of gate gourmet and Mary Pat Maher of Flying Food Group.
GAEC did an amazing job at EXPO with their education breakout sessions on labeling and regulation. A big thank you to Neil Ylanan and Suzanne Fisher. Additionally, the GAEC booth was a huge success among members.

Southwest Airlines to power some flights with biofuels
Their engines may not emit a nice woodsy smell, but some Southwest Airlines Co. flights may be flying on jet fuel made from “forest residues” in a few years.

Air Food One is a subscription food delivery service that has teamed up with grocery company AllYouNeed.com and LGS Sky Chefs to bring leftover airline food right to the door of anyone living in Germany – the service is only available there for now.
Sue Gin, 1941-2014: Entrepreneur launched airline catering business
Sue Gin, Founder and CEO of Chicago-based Flying Food Group (FFG) passed away at Rush University Medical Center after having suffered a stroke on Sept. 23 at her Chicago office. She was 73.
FFG has a strong plan for continued investment and growth. The company will continue to focus on superior culinary quality, high quality service and cultivating its high-performing team.
Milt Liu, President and COO, will continue to lead the day-to-day operations and assume Sue’s previous responsibilities. Before returning to FFG in 2013, Milt was a Vice President with the U.S. retailer, Target Corporation. He had previously worked for FFG from 1996-2004.
David Cotton, CFO, will continue to be responsible for the Finance and Real Estate functions. David has been with FFG for over 25 years.

Sue Gin founded Flying Food Group (FFG) in 1983 with a single domestic airline customer and one catering kitchen at Chicago's Midway (International) Airport. It now operates a network of 20 US catering kitchens that stretches from Honolulu to New York City, and reported 2013 revenues of $436 million. Sue was also president of New Management, a real estate management and development company with key holdings in Chicago's West Loop and near Midway International Airport. She headed the board of the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, which honors the legacy of her late husband, Bill McGowan, who died in 1992.
