All guests at the Ramada Plaza Herradura are invited to use the Cariari Country Club Golf Course, which is the best Golf Course in Costa Rica and one of the most prestigious Golf Course in Central America. Although it is a private Course NOT available for play to the general public, guest of Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura are gifted with this privilege. The Cariari Country Club Golf Course, which is the best Golf Course in Costa Rica and one of the most prestigious Golf Course in Central America. The Cariari Country Club is located 500 meters away from the hotel’s main entrance. Transportation can be arranged at the front desk or with the bellmen free of charge. We have secured the following rates for our guests to golf at the Club: Greens fees are $60.00 USD and the cost for a caddie is $20.00 USD. The Cariari can be reached by calling 50-6-2933211.
The Cariari Golf Course, long considered to be the best course in Central America, is a natural to play when arriving in Costa Rica. Situated on land that was once a coffee plantation, the Cariari was designed by golf course architect George Fazio and built by his now famous nephew, Tom Fazio. This par 71 course measures 6,590 yards from the Championship tees, but plays much longer. The course is heavily wooded, the fairways are narrow with few fairway bunkers, and the greens tend to be on the large side with sand traps throughout. The greens are Bermuda and roll fast and true. The Tour of the Americas Tournament is held in this Golf Course.

Conveniently located near the Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura are several, beautiful and historic attractions of Costa Rica for tourists to see such as: The butterfly farm, located in La Guacima, Alajuela is an interesting garden, with over a thousand live butterflies in all stages of their lives cycles. The farm is dedicated to protecting and exporting butterflies, which is very important for our biodiversity and economy. The Zoo Ave, located in La Garita, Alajuela, is harbouring monkeys, deer, crocodiles, giant tortoises, and more tan 60 species of birds. The National Park Volcan Poas is only 15 miles from the Hotel Ramada Plaza Herradura in the province of Alajuela. The park itself contains four distinct habitats. You can see about 79 species of birds and one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica. The main crater is 1.5 km (1 mile) wide and 300 meters (1000 ft.) deep and is one of the largest in the world).
Sunday evening’s cultural dinner and entertainment will take place at the fascinating Pueblo Antiguo. Located just 15 minutes from our host hotel, Pueblo Antiguo is a popular tourist center site with an educational component enabling visitors to become acquainted with the values and customs that have molded the Costa Rican culture. Encompassing 12 acres, Pueblo Antiguo presents three important aspects of significant cultural and historical relevance, all recreated in a realistic setting: the city at the turn of the century, the countryside (with original adobe structures moed to the site, including a sugar mill, coffee mill, and milking barn), and the Caribbean coast (including a replica of Tortuguero Canals). The mission of Pueblo Antiguo is to bring alive Costa Rican traditions in context; they have combined live actors, oxcarts, horses, cattle, train, horse-drawn carriages, boats, live music, folklore dances, restaurants and shops to present a vibrant, living experience indicative of the past.
